The project in Krosno is one of Unia Grains’ key investments of recent years, designed and built for Wipasz – one of the largest feed producers in Poland and a major exporter of poultry meat. The project represents another milestone in a long-term partnership that has been continuously developed for over 20 years.
As part of the investment, two DT 5048 grain dryers were constructed – the largest units in the Unia Grains portfolio. The first dryer was commissioned in 2022, while the second was put into operation in 2025 as part of the site’s expansion.
DT 5048 dryer parameters (each unit):
capacity: 1,573 tonnes of corn per day
height: over 34 m
batch capacity: 251 tonnes
With the construction of the second dryer, the first unit was also modernized, standardizing the technological level of both dryers and fully integrating them with the remaining infrastructure of the facility.
An integral part of the base are two SF 27.7/27 flat-bottom silos, each with a total capacity of 19,895 m³ and a height of nearly 39 m. Unia Grains installations operate as part of a coherent system together with existing silos supplied by another manufacturer.
Due to the proximity of residential areas, noise and dust reduction systems were implemented. These include a water-jacket-based dust extraction system and a closed-loop water bath, enabling dust emissions to be reduced to almost zero.
Construction of the second dryer began in June 2025. Thanks to close cooperation and proper site preparation in line with technological guidelines, installation and commissioning proceeded smoothly. The facility was delivered on schedule and is currently operating at full capacity.
