The Buszkowo facility is an example of modern grain drying and storage infrastructure developed in stages. The project was completed for Usługi Leśne Rafał Hartwich, a customer based in Poland’s Pomeranian Voivodeship who prioritised drying efficiency and process monitoring.

The first stage of cooperation involved designing and implementing a drying system centred on a DryTech DT 2524 dryer with a capacity of up to 19 tonnes per hour (456 tonnes per day), a grain holding capacity of 75 tonnes and a burner heat output of 3,000 kW.

The dryer was equipped with the DDC (Dual Dryer Controller) system, providing advanced drying process automation accessible through an operator panel and a control computer. The system uses two moisture sensors, at the material inlet and outlet, and has been tested in numerous installations. It automatically adjusts operating parameters and displays readings continuously, without requiring operator intervention. The operator’s role is to supervise the process and ensure a continuous supply of material.

The technology delivers high process efficiency through air recirculation and heat recovery.

Its energy efficiency is achieved through features including air recirculation of up to 70%, low airflow speeds through the drying column, which allow a longer and more controlled drying process, heat energy recovery of up to 30% compared with dryers without recirculation, and uniform material flow across the column’s entire cross-section. The column is made of corrosion-resistant steel with a Magnelis coating and effectively insulated with mineral wool to reduce energy losses.

Extensive storage infrastructure is another key part of the project. The facility includes an SF 15.3/18 silo with a total capacity of 4,043 tonnes (3,923 tonnes of usable capacity), complemented by an SFL 7.6/16 silo with a total volume of 931 m³ (906 m³ of usable volume), and a conveyor system ensuring efficient, continuous material flow throughout the facility. A CZB 1205 grain cleaner with a capacity of 120 t/h prepares the grain before drying.

The investment was designed to allow further development. The next stage provides for four additional SF 15.3/18 silos, expansion of the conveying system and installation of a flow scale. This equipment will measure material mass in real time, calculate flow in t/h and total the quantity of material processed. In practice, it will provide full control over dryer throughput, for example maintaining 19 t/h, accurate records of the quantities received and dried, and the ability to optimise operating parameters according to the current material flow.

The Buszkowo project demonstrates a modern approach to grain drying and storage, focused on efficiency, control and the ability to expand as the business grows.
